# Discord

The card's own line: *"Send real-time alerts to Discord channels."* It is the
Slack integration's twin, and it does one thing.

## Connecting [#connecting]

OAuth, from the **Integrations** screen. Click **Authenticate** on the Discord
card, pick the server, and authorise Surface. The card then reads
**Disconnect**.

## What You Can Do with It [#what-you-can-do-with-it]

One workflow action, **Discord**: post a message to a channel when the
workflow reaches it. Compose the message from the submission's fields the same
way you would in the [Slack action](https://www.withsurface.com/docs/platform/integrations/slack).

## What It Is Not [#what-it-is-not]

Discord is an alerting destination, not a control surface. Unlike Slack, there
is no Discord equivalent of [SAM](https://www.withsurface.com/docs/platform/sam/overview): you cannot ask
Surface to do work from a Discord thread. If that is what you are after,
connect Slack.
